How to take apart a model train?
I have a csx boxcar I want to take apart to make a cleaning car and want to separate the under frame (where trucks and couplers are) from the rest of the train
It depends on manufacturer, line (sub grouping here. For example, Walther's equipment is offered in Trainline, Gold Line and Platinum line. The detail and prices rise correspondingly) and model number. So, who made the car and what is that model number? (NOT car number in reporting marks) Further examples: Athearn, Ready to Roll, 93517, or Atlas, Trainman, 8599, etc...
No meaningful answer without that data, as there are a bunch of them and all differ, but you'll likely need nothing more than a small slotted or phillips screw driver.
But cleaning cars can be purchased for a reasonable price, in a railroad paint scheme, rendering the question moot, unless you enjoy the building of the car in kit bash fashion;
