Cargo Transport Plane
Has anyone ever had a pet injured or killed when they were in the cargo hold of a plane???
I'm traveling with my dog and he's to big to be carry on luggage, so I was looking on google on some of the conditions in a cargo hold, and i heard some pretty unbeliveable stories. So I was wondering if this has ever happened to you? As well, do you suggest me letting my dog travel in the cargo hold???If not how should I transport him? I need to bring him becasue I'm moving and I can't do with out him right now.
I have flown with my dog and 2 cats, and they all made it safely each and every time. My dog, a Cocker Spaniel, has flown in the cargo hold from North Carolina to California, and later from California to Germany, and she was absolutely fine. So was my one cat that rode the same trips in the cargo hold. With the airline I used on the way to Germany, they gave me a notice before take off (on each leg of the flight) letting me know that my pets were safely loaded on the same plane. It was comforting to know that we were flying together, even if I couldn't be with them to comfort them (or vice versa! 
).
There are also pet airline services that can help you with your move and getting your dog there safely. I typed in "pet air" in the Google search engine, and it returned a variety of companies.
