How many batteries do i need for an rc airplane?
I am going to get a PROJET MQ-9 Reaper 98" 4-CH Brushless Remote Control RC UAV Predator/Drone Airplane ARF Kit V2 and since it doesn't come with an engine i am going to get this one:MonsterPower 32 (770kv) Brushless Motor. It says its continuous current is 42A. The battery im looking at is only 4000mAh. Does that mean i have to buy multiple batteries? If so how do i connect them?
The motor current means that if you put too large a prop on the motor, it may draw more than 42A and burn the motor. You must have a speed controller and batteries able to deliver up to that maximum 42 Amps.
The battery at 4Ah (4000mAh) simply tells that it can deliver 4 amps for one hour, or near your max of 40Ams for 1/10th of an hour. The most important part is how many volts the battery is at. The motor you list at 770kv will turn 770RPM times the volts of the battery. The faster the motor turns for a given size propeller, the more amps it will draw.
